Know a great carer? Have them recognised with the NSW Carers Awards.

NOMINATIONS are now open for the NSW Carers Awards, which recognise and raise awareness of the valuable contribution unpaid carers make to the people they care for and the wider community.

Disability Services Minister Ray Williams said more than 900,000 carers in NSW provide unconditional support for those in their care every day.

He urged anyone who knows a carer or who has witnessed best practice by an organisation in supporting carers to put forward a nomination.

The awards coincide with Carers Week from October 15-21.

Up to 10 awards will be presented, including the 2017 NSW Carer of the Year.

Nominations close August 31.
