YOU'RE invited to join your local police for a cuppa today, February 23.
The NSW Police Force's Coffee with a Cop initiative will see officers hosting 87 events across 73 Local Area Commands across the state.
It's aimed at strengthening relationships between the community and local police.
"We wanted police officers and community members to come together in an informal, neutral space to discuss community issues, build relationships and drink coffee; our shout," said NSW Police's field operations acting deputy commissioner Frank Mennili said.
"Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions, raise issues and learn more about police work."
The initiative was adopted by the Fairfield Local Area Command in 2012 after its success in the United States.
"There are no agendas, speeches or lectures. It's a relaxed atmosphere where we want you, the community, to reach out to us and tell us what's on your mind."
