ELECTION 2016
END of life care should be recognised as a National Health Priority, Palliative Care Australia has said in its election statement.
Chief executive Liz Callaghan said the organisation also called on politicians to support programs improving access to high quality palliative care, support a national Dying to Talk campaign, and increase funding for paediatric palliative care and investigations into the quality of death in residential aged care.
"It is time to shine a light on end of life care," she said.
"We need to make sure that everyone in Australia has access to high quality care right to the end of their lives.
"In the lead-up to the federal election, PCA is asking political parties to consider making end-of-life care a National Health Priority.
"In doing so they will be responding to an issue which touches all in Australia.
