THE warmer months are the perfect time for a barbecue - so why not have a backyard barbie with a cause.
Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia is asking people to throw on a few snags to help raise money for prostate cancer research as part of its Big Aussie Barbie campaign.
It's an open campaign, which means barbecuers can make a difference at any time in the year.
All they have to do is register your barbecue online, invite a few mates over and collect donations, no matter how big or small.
Cricket legend Matthew Hayden is the campaign's official ambassador.
He has seen firsthand the toll prostate cancer can have on families after his father was diagnosed with the disease in 2012.
"The Big Aussie Barbie is a fantastic opportunity for Australians to gather with friends and family, openly talk about risk and the importance of getting checked," he said.
"Prostate cancer continues to be a leading cause of death among Aussie blokes and it's time we change that."
