ACT Seniors Week a time of learning, adventure

Saturday, 18th March, 2017

ACTION APLENTY - Dance, sing, walk, talk... there's something for everyone to Love later life during ACT Seniors Week.

ACT SENIORS will Love later life with Seniors Week celebrations kicking off today.

More than 200 events are planned, including the ever-popular Chief Minister's Concert with entertainment by the Royal Military College Band and the Australian Rugby Choir at Albert Hall on March 21.

The annual event is about encouraging older people to live healthy and active lifestyles, and a reminder that older age can be a time of learning and adventure.

One of the week's primary sponsors is Goodwin Aged Care Services.

"Goodwin is proud to be associated with such a positive event," said chief executive Sue Levy.

"In Goodwin's long history, we have come to deeply appreciate that the journey through ageing is a very individual one; that it can also span 30 years or more from retirement age; and that it can be filled with experiences and achievements.

"Seniors Week helps people to explore the opportunities and services available."

A highlight will be the much-anticipated The Senior Seniors Week Expo on March 23. Thousands of seniors are expected to flock to Exhibition Park, Canberra, to connect with more than 120 exhibitors.

Other events during the week include retirement village tours, open days and discounts to attractions.

  • ACT Seniors Week is organised by Council on the Ageing (COTA) ACT. It runs from March 18-26. For concert bookings and details phone (02) 6282-3777.
