A NEW $25 million luxury retirement building with assisted living apartments has opened in Brisbane's north.
The Sellwood building was officially opened this month at retirement developer Aveo's flagship community The Clayfield in Albion.
Spanning five levels, Sellwood has 65 two-bedroom assisted living apartments designed to accommodate residents as they age with additional home and care services.
Offering an additional level of home support service, residents at Sellwood will get daily meals and in-home cleaning and linen services, alongside round-the-clock health and medical support from on-site medical and allied health professionals.
Aveo's executive general manager of integrated communities Jason Eldering said the new building will play an important role in The Clayfield's next chapter in meeting the needs of today's retirees.
"Our residents have been asking us for an assisted living option at The Clayfield so that when the need arose, they could access a higher level of care but still remain in the community they love," Mr Eldering said.
"Sellwood is a wonderful addition to the community that bridges the gap between our independent living units and aged care homes - it's perfect for those seniors wanting to maintain their independence but need nursing and care support and help with some daily tasks like cooking and cleaning."
He said key elements had been included in the apartments, such as more accessible wide hallways and doorways, large light switches, DDA compliant bathrooms and zero-step flat thresholds from living areas to outdoor spaces.
The launch of Sellwood follows the recent opening of the Carriage House restaurant and the Health and Wellness Centre.
The Clayfield is at 469 Sandgate Road, Albion and apartments at Sellwood range from $499,000 to $689,000.
