JOIN Monty Python star Michael Palin at the Western Australia's biggest regional literary event in Margaret River this June.
The British comedian, actor, writer and roving TV presenter will be headline speaker at the Margaret River Readers and Writers Festival – the flagship annual literature event of Arts Margaret River.
Now in its ninth year, the festival brings together an array of thought-provoking writers including novelists, journalists, academics and established and emerging storytellers from WA, interstate and overseas.
Other literary names at the event will include journalist Kerry O'Brien, feminist Clementine Ford, chef and author Stephanie Alexander, advertising writer and author Jane Caro, and humanitarian Tim Costello.
Australian authors including Robert Drewe, Bruce Pascoe and Joan London will also be there.
Since its inception, the event has grown from 600 attendees to about 5000.
Held from June 2-4, it will feature ticketed and free activities including solo and panel author discussions, debates, readings and lectures.
As well as a chance to meet writers, there will be workshops on everything from self-publishing and pitching story ideas to illustrating children’s books and getting into travel writing.
Margaret River Cultural Centre will be the main venue for the festival, with other feature events and workshops taking place in other locations around the region.
Just three hours’ drive south of Perth and only 110km from end to end, Margaret River stretches from Busselton and Dunsborough in the north to Augusta in the south.
