HEADING to Sydney for a day out? Why not check out Titanic The Exhibition at the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park.
This touring exhibition, which runs until the end of June, unravels the mystery of the ill-fated ship’s first and final voyage with a thrilling self-guided tour of dramatic room recreations, artefacts and hands-on activities.
Hundreds of items taken from the Titanic before it sailed for New York and a few pieces which survived disaster secured in the coat pockets of those rescued, as well as some from its nearly identical sister ship Olympic, transport visitors back to 1912 to absorb the sounds, smells and sights of opulent and luxury steamship travel.
Visitors receive a boarding pass that contains the personal information of an actual passenger, and are encouraged to feel connected to their passenger’s journey by learning about their background and life on board.
Memorabilia from the 1997 blockbuster movie Titanic, including the famous Heart of the Ocean necklace, is also on display.
The exhibition runs until June 30 at Byron Kennedy Hall, The Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park. Tickets: off peak from $18, $70 family, $65 VIP, $40 undated/untimed. Handling fee applies.
