GRAB your rockabilly dancing gear and the keys to your hot rod and head off to Rock & Rodz at Longford in Tasmania on October 1-2.
In a celebration of pop culture from the 1950s and '60s, the eighth year of Rock & Rodz will see cars, rockabilly and rock 'n' roll music, fashion and art on show.
Co-ordinator Dave O'Keefe said the classic, veteran and vintage cars and motorbikes were always a big drawcard.
"We have up to 300 cars from before 1970 and are expecting a good turn out this year," he said.
"There will also be a 1950s and '60s fashion parade and competition, and every guy who wears a Hawaiian shirt will go into a prize draw."
Rock & Rodz also includes burlesque dance group Miss Kitty's, 1960s go-go dancers, DJ Jack V8 playing classic songs and Matthew Garwood performing songs from the Buddy theatre production.
"We usually get about 2000 people," Dave said.
"It's a good crowd for a small event and we get a lot of support.
"We try to recreate that nice, easy feel from the '50s and '60s."
The venue is Longford Showgrounds, 9am-3pm on October 2, with TazKatz hosting a pre-party charity event at the Australian Italian Club, Prospect, the night before.
All profits from Rock & Rodz will be donated to Camp Quality. Organisers have donated more than $120,000 to the charity in the past seven years.
Entry is $12, with under-16s free. Entry to the pre-party is by gold coin.
